Regular Chapter Meetings

The Tampa Bay Chapter of AALNC meet six times a year in the Tampa Bay Area, Florida, on the third Tuesday of "odd" months (January, March, May, etc.). Please RSVP in advance to reserve your space and meal; dinner is included in every meeting!

**STARTING November 17, 2022 we will have meetings every 3rd THURSDAY of odd moths.

Title: “Wound Care - Pressure Injury Prevention Tips for the LNC”

Speaker: Angelia Rose, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CWCN-AP

Certified Wound Care Nurse-Advanced Practice (CWCN-AP)

Discussion: Current trends for hospital acquired pressure injuries and HAPI prevention techniques that align with current guidelines.

Angelia Rose, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, CWCN-AP is currently practicing in an outpatient wound care clinic, with over 5 years of inpatient and outpatient wound care experience as a nurse practitioner. She has over 5 years of experience in wound care as an RN in home health and inpatient acute care. Wound care is her passion, and she learns something new daily, and hope to continue assisting patients to heal while preventing new wounds.

Title: "Improving Safe Handling and Mobility in Long Term Care"

Speaker: Andrea McKinney, MHA, MA, OT, CIE

Consultant, Certified Ergonomist

Discussion: Facts vs myths section on safe patient handling, an overview of interprofessional nursing standards for safe patient handling, ergonomics design principles applied to typically performed resident handling transfers, technological solutions, including PTR and its benefits.

Objectives:

Learn about key mobility challenges in long term care.

Understand the complications of immobility to the resident. Identify how improved mobility benefits residents, long term care staff and long-term care facilities.

Understand the benefits of a safe patient handling program for residents including facts vs fiction, types of transfers, technology and new and emerging solutions.

Twice a year, we have a summer and holiday peanut butter drive. We donate to local organizations in the Tampa Bay area to help families in need. We ask members and guests to please purchase peanut butter throughout the year and bring all you can carry to our May and November chapter meetings. Your generosity is truly appreciated!
